Access to Cameras via the Repeater

This article applies to the JEFA Tech Long Range WiFi Repeater and the JEFA Tech Repeater XR

Q: Can I use a JEFA Tech Repeater XR on my boat to allow me to access a wifi enabled camera from my home 30 miles away? In other words, does the Repeater allow access via a web site so I can monitor my boat safety (temperature and camera) from home? I’m assuming the marina wifi signal is always available to the boat.

A: It depends. If the camera requires that you set up port forwarding in your Internet router, then it would not work because it would require the marina owner set up port forwarding in their router. You likely won’t be able to get that permission from them and the setup is relatively complex.

If the camera uploads its pictures to a server on the Internet and you access that server to see the pictures, then yes, it would work because that does not require any port forwarding or special configuration on the marina’s end.

The same goes for the temperature sensor.
