I want to connect easily to
WiFi hotspots from within my boat. I have trouble getting a good signal
from inside. What do you recommend for me to use so that I can get a
good connection from within my boat?
The following setup
uses a long range wireless USB adapter (or Ethernet adapter, see bottom of page) which can be used with a desktop
PC or a laptop as well as a high gain external antenna which is mounted
outside the boat to pick up wireless networks in all directions at
maximum range.
Low
Loss Jumper Cable to go from inside to outside where you will mount the
antenna. Choose N Female on one end and N Male on the other: http://www.jefatech.com/product/ll400
The
antenna includes u-bolts for mounting to a railing or mast up to two inches in diameter. You also have other antenna mounting options
here: http://www.jefatech.com/category/f100/
Ethernet Adapter Option: If you have an Ethernet (network) jack on your computer and would like to connect using that jack instead of USB, then follow all of the directions above, but substitute this Ethernet Bridge instead of the USB Adapter: http://www.jefatech.com/product/nl-2611cb3deluxe
