I am trying to establish a long range Wi Fi internet connection to a mountaintop location approximately 5 miles away with an excellent line of site between the 2 locations. What do I need?
Here is what I recommend for each location:
24dBi High Gain Grid Antenna:

Long Range Wireless to Ethernet Bridge. For
the distance, and for reliablity, I recommend using 802.11b. 802.11g
has a higher speed, but this is only for shorter links and under
perfect conditions so 802.11b is your best choice:

To convert the bridge's RF connector to a standard N Male connector you will need a pigtail:

You will also need a low loss extension cable
to reach from where you will have the bridge inside, outside to a
grounded lightning arrestor, and another from the lightning arrestor to
the antenna. Choose the length you require for each cable, and choose
and N Male connector on one end and an N Female on the other:

You will need an N Male to N Female Bulkhead lightning arrestor:

If you do not have a pole on which to mount the antenna, I highly recommend these universal mounts:

This setup will extend the wired network between both locations. The
bridge on each end of the connection plugs into a network hub or
switch, or even directly into a PC with a standard RJ45 network
connector.
